Here’s How Android Users Can Soon Remove Apps from PC, Phone, or Watch
Imagine if you had the power to remove apps from your account on any device. Google plans to give Android users this option in the near future, as long as they use the same account on all devices. Android users already had the option to install apps on multiple devices running on the same account.
But in the upcoming version of Google Play Store, you will be able to install and uninstall from any device connected to your account. The app’s remote installation feature has been teased to work on any device, including a computer, watch, TV, and even a car, meaning cars are likely to run Android Auto. Google will let you select apps to remove based on their size, device, and more when you get the Play Store 38.8 update for supported devices.
The feature hasn’t been officially released yet, but the teasers give us a glimpse of how people can expect the uninstaller to work. Google Account works on different platforms including Android, Android TV, ChromeOS, Android Auto and WearOS. It makes sense to integrate all these devices if they use the same account.
Apple has done this pretty well for years, allowing you to connect your Mac to an iOS device or iPad using wireless capabilities. It makes sense for Google to introduce a similar cross-device feature, especially since it can be difficult for people to uninstall apps from a car’s Android console or even a smart TV.
In other Google news, the company is finally bringing the cookie blocking feature to Chrome users in early 2024. Google’s Privacy Sandbox has been in the works for a few years, but roughly 30 million users will be able to try out the privacy feature in January. more to come later next year.
